Cox TV Ads Stolen, Put on YouTube — Four Unaired TV Ads Posted By Political Opponents
LANSING, Mich. — The Michigan gubernatorial campaign of Republican Attorney General Mike Cox says four of its unaired TV ads were stolen and posted on YouTube.
Campaign officials said Tuesday they were talking with attorneys to determine how to proceed and to identify who posted the commercials under the tag AnyOneButCox.
The ads feature people including former police officers defending Cox and his role in putting former Detroit Mayor Kwame Kilpatrick behind bars.
In the ads, Cox’s defenders say he’s under attack with false claims by political opponents.
That’s a reference to ads questioning Cox’s role in investigating a rumored party at the Manoogian Mansion, then Kilpatrick’s official residence.
The party has never been proven but rumors of a cover-up persist.
