Kwame Kilpatrick Returns to Court on E-mail Issue
DETROIT (WJBK) – Detroit’s former mayor Kwame Kilpatrick is expected back in federal court Monday. He’ll be part of a hearing to determine if his e-mail was intentionally destroyed. A lawyer for Tamara Greene’s family says he wants to ask Kilpatrick questions.
Kilpatrick and the city are defendants in a lawsuit that says he put the brakes on the investigation into the exotic dancer’s death in 2003. She’s rumored to have danced at the never-proven Manoogian Mansion party. A federal judge will hold a hearing missing e-mail, and attorney Norman Yatooma who represents Tamara Greene’s family says he wants to hear from the ex-mayor.
Yatooma also plans to question Christine Beatty, who’s expected to appear in court via video from Atlanta. Beatty was Kilpatrick’s former chief of staff and mistress.
Kilpatrick is currently in prison for violating probation in a criminal case. He’s also under indictment on federal fraud and tax charges.
