Lawyer in Greene suit will question ex-mayoral bodyguard again
A lawyer for the family of a woman who supposedly danced at a never-proven wild party at the Manoogian Mansion will get to question former mayoral bodyguard Loronzo Jones again about text messages.
U.S. District Judge Gerald Rosen issued an order Friday saying Birmingham lawyer Norman Yatooma could question Jones under oath again about text messages he sent or received. It’s unclear what the messages are about.
Detroit city attorney John Schapka had instructed Jones during an earlier deposition not to answer questions about the texts, prompting Yatooma to ask Rosen to intervene.
Tamara Greene’s family is suing the city and ex-Mayor Kwame Kilpatrick, saying Detroit police scuttled Greene’s murder probe to prevent her killers from being brought to justice. She was killed in a drive-by shooting in April 2003, some six months after supposedly dancing at the party.
